Polynesian – Club Level
During my recent vacation to Walt Disney World, I was fortunate to stay at The Polynesian Resortand enjoy the club level experiences. The Polynesian is one of the original Magic Kingdom resorts that is located on the Seven Seas Lagoon. The resort rooms are located in buildings called longhouses. The club level is located in the Hawaii building, which is near the pool and and a short walk to the Great Ceremonial House. This is the main building where you check in/out and the restaurants are located.
We were in a Garden View room on the 2nd floor. This floor has doors that slide open but no balconies. We had a view of the quiet pool area and that was OK with us. We didn’t need to pay extra for the theme park or lagoon view for 2 reasons.

Upon arriving we were greeted with a Cast Member that carried an IPad. He said ‘Aloha’ and put lei’s around each of us. He looked us up on the IPad and led us past the check in desk in the Great Ceremonial House and to the club level check in desk. This building is restricted to only those staying in here and you need your room key to have access. Again, we were greeted with ‘Aloha’. There were 3 check in desks where I was offered something to drink and I could sit down. Already I was falling in love with this resort. The plants, waterfalls and laid back atmosphere made me feel very relaxed after an early morning and long day of traveling.
The cast member told the rest of my family to go up to the 2nd floor and get a snack and drinks. They didn’t even look back. I saw them about 15 minutes later and they were refreshed and excited to go swimming. The check in went smoothly and we were ready to enjoy our stay.
Every morning at 7:00 am we had breakfast. The menu was the same daily. It was cold cereals, juices, coffee, pastries, muffins, and hot oatmeal. It was enough to fill us up and most importantly convenient! During the afternoon, the staff serves snacks and drinks such as goldfish, yogurt pretzels and cookies.

There is beer and wine served throughout the day. However only visible during the hot appetizer time. If you want something in the afternoon, just knock on the door and they will pour it into a plastic cup so you can enjoy by the pool. Aahhh… that’s all I have to say about that.
The evening appetizers were always enough for us. There were 2 hot options, from sticky wings, to pot stickers and even sushi! (I realize that’s not hot, but still wonderful) These options were different each night. Then there were plates full of fresh fruit, cheese and crackers and cold salad. The Kona Salad was my favorite. For the kids, they had mini-corn dogs or PB & J. And of course, many beer and wine choices. Even mixed fruity drinks were available in carafes.

Our other favorite thing about the club level lounge is the view of the Seven Seas Lagoon. Cinderella’s Castle is visible as well as a great view of The Grand Floridian and The Contemporary a little further in the distance. During the evening Wishes fireworks, the music is piped in so you can sit with desert (offered at 8:00 pm) and a cordial if you wish, and watch the most amazing fireworks you’ve ever seen. You can see the castle change colors and the best part is you avoid the crowd when you are trying to leave the park. Don’t get me wrong, I do love being inside the Magic Kingdom to watch as well. But trying to navigate your way to the bus or monorail among thousands of people can be a bit frustrating too.
I can’t forget to mention the location either. Being on the monorail system and within walking distance to the TTC (transportation ticket center) is a great convenience. Our biggest complaint? We were trying to get to Epcot to enjoy Extra Magic Hours at 8:00 am. After walking to the TTC, we saw the monorail wasn’t running until 8:00 am. We walked back to our resort and was told there is no bus to Epcot. WHAT? After already feeling tired and frustrated, all of us angry guests quickly walked back to the TTC and complained the whole way of how this wasn’t very ‘magical. Many families were upset, but after getting to Epcot and only having a 10 minute wait for Test Track, our frustration quickly subsided. By the way, the monorail trip from the TTC to Epcot is 8:48. I started timing when the doors closed.
Overall, it really was a magical experience. From the staff, to the food, the location and pool we would definitely stay at The Polynesian again.
