The Beach Club Resort at Walt Disney World

Note: this post was provided by Kim at Believe in Magic Vacations.

During our last trip to Walt Disney World, our family was fortunate to stay at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.  We knew with a family of 5, there were only certain resorts that sleep 5 people.  Our choices were, the Family Suites at The All-Star Music Resort,  The Grand Floridian, The Polynesian, The Contemporary, The Boardwalk, The Yacht Club and The Beach Club resorts.  Keep in mind, this was before The Art of Animation was built.

There were a a few things that led us into the direction of Disney’s Beach Club Resort.
  1. The walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios
  2. It was a bit more affordable of the other deluxe resorts near The Magic Kingdom
  3. The amazing pool – Stormalong Bay
During this trip, we stayed off property for a few nights and actually left a night early to gain a night at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.  We were so excited to be on Disney World property.
We were not disappointed in our decision.  We were welcomed with courteous and friendly cast members.  The resort entrance is decorated in soft blues and whites with pictures of sand castles, beaches, shells and ships.
Our room seems quite a ways away, but the benefit to having this walk is that our room was situated close to the back entrance of Epcot.  We had about a 5-7 minute walk to reach World Showcase.  Disney’s Beach Club Resort is considered an Epcot resort. It was wonderful!  We loved being able to have this short walk at the end of the evening fireworks and arrive quickly into our cozy room.
The Beach Club Resort rooms are equipped with a mini-refrigerator that helped with our food budget.  My son is allergic to dairy so we were able to have cereal for breakfast each day (soy milk for him) among other goodies!  We found there to be plenty of drawer and suitcase space as well.
The Beach Club Resort pool, Stormalong bay was definitely a highlight.  The water temperature was great as well as the sandy bottom!  Yes, all along the entire pool you can feel the sand under your feet as you wind around the from the kiddie sand castle beach area, through the lazy river and into the deeper side where the water slide resides.  Each kids meal is served in a bucket so you are free to make sand castles with your little ones.

At night you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the Boardwalk Resort area across the lagoon and even Walt Disney movies are shown on the beach with a supervised marshmallow roast over a fire.  It’s a great way to wind down at night.
The Beach Club Resort also has a wonderful character breakfast at Cape May Buffet. You can plan on seeing Goofy, Minnie Mouse and Pluto before you even head over to one of the Walt Disney parks.  If you need a snack or ice cream treat, you will want to check out Beaches n Cream Soda Shop.  If you are feeling brave, you can try to tackle the Kitchen Sink.  This is 8 scoops of ice cream covered in every topping available.
